Chip Hoever, CMCA, AMS, PCAM
Mr. Hoever is the founder and managing partner of Somerset Management Group, LLC. The company got its start because Mr. Hoever, as president of the Board of Trustees for the association where he resides, was having difficulty finding management companies for the association. It was difficult to find a management company that would give the personalized service desired, at a reasonable cost. Therefore, Mr. Hoever and his associates formed Somerset Management Group, LLC.
After being elected to the Board of Countryside, Mr. Hoever was instrumental in bringing about a balanced budget, funding the capital reserve fund and restoring community confidence in the Board. He was also instrumental in finding new vendors to provide higher levels of service while maintaining cost levels.
At the time, Countryside was a relatively new community and, as such, was still in the midst of transition from the builder when Mr. Hoever was elected to the Board. Once taking office, he was also extremely instrumental in moving forward the stalled transition process. As spokesperson for the Board, Mr. Hoever was able to enlist the support of the Township Council and was able to convince the Council to have the Township Attorney assist in forcing the builder to repair code deficiencies at no cost to the Association.
During that time Mr. Hoever became active in CAI-NJ – Community Associations Institute, the national organization for common-interest communities. During the past six years, Mr. Hoever has been very active in CAI, in general, and specifically with the New Jersey Chapter. This year Mr. Hoever serves on the Education Committee, and last year he served as chairperson of the CAI-NJ Public Relations Committee.
Mr. Hoever completed the CAI M-100 course – “The Essentials of Community Association Management”. Subsequent to that, Mr. Hoever received his CMCA (Certified Manager of Community Associations). He has obtained his AMS (Association Management Specialist) certification and continues taking classes in the Professional Management Development Program (PMDP) in pursuit of his PCAM. He also attends many local classes and seminars offered by CAI, including the “Managers Nuts and Bolts” breakfast series. He is also an active member of IREM (Institute of Real Estate Management).
In addition to Community Management also provides printing and high speed copying services to large corporate clients and municipalities. The printing portion preceded the Community Management and was started in 1990. Mr. Hoever is a Secretary of the Franklin Township Library Board and is a current member of the Franklin Township Chamber of Commerce, where he previously served on the Board. He is a former Board member of the Franklin Villagers Theatre. For several years, Mr. Hoever’s firm has sponsored The Hunterdon Health and Wellness Center Family Fun Run to support Breast Cancer research. He also served on the planning committee for the event. Other civic activities include being the Founder and CEO of Taxpayers United in Franklin (T.U.F.) – a watchdog group focused on letting local government officials know the sentiment of the voters and reporting back to the voters on the actions of the elected officials. Mr. Hoever often speaks out at Council meetings on local issues that effect taxes and quality of life.
